During the month of October, all kindergarten classrooms at the CGS participated in a Guidance classroom lesson on Whole Body Listening. Whole Body Listening is a social thinking concept that teaches children how to listen with all body parts, not just their ears. Children often hear statements such as "pay attention" or "listen to me", however we often forget to explain what listening looks like to other people and what is feels like to the child. When teaching the concept, we need to be specific about which areas of listening we want students to focus on, for example, "Michael, I need you to listen with your feet right now". CGS is the BEST. When children demonstrate Whole Body Listening, they are conforming with the letter "T" for "Together We're Ready" to learn.
